At the two sessions this year, Wu Mingjiang, member of the CPPCC National Committee and former vice president of the Chinese Medical Association, submitted a proposal to "comprehensively promote the improvement, innovation and development of China's medical devices". The proposal puts forward several suggestions on basic research of medical devices, construction of standard system, effective combination of production and demand, and encouraging the development of domestic medical devices.

Wu Mingjiang said that by the end of 2015, China had more than 14000 medical device manufacturing enterprises, of which nearly 90% had a production scale of less than 20million yuan, only more than 300 had a production scale of more than 100 million yuan, and more than 2600 were able to produce more high-end products.

Relevant government departments have strengthened top-level design, built a production and demand communication platform, and promoted the interactive exchange of production, learning, research and medicine, as well as scientific and technological research, so that a number of core equipment and key components can be localized, and the market share of some domestic medical devices can be effectively increased. At the same time, we will strengthen the research on basic and important engineering technologies in the industry, and strengthen the research on industrial application engineering technologies and service capacity construction such as special manufacturing equipment, testing equipment, process technology, reliability research, stability research, etc. required for the mass production of medical devices.
